THE GAMES

In the harsh environment of the Arctic survival has always been a challenge. Since ancient times Alaska Natives met this challenge by training their bodies and minds to be strong, quick, flexible and adaptable. This tradition lives on in our Native games. Eskimo and Indian games are meant to hone the skills needed to survive in a land of extremes. To live in the darkness you needed to be still and to concentrate; to capture scarce game you needed to be patient and strong; to live on the ice you needed to be quick and sure-footed. To survive the long winter, you needed a sense of humor!

KITA!  will show you our games and explain the tradition and meaning behind each one. They will amaze you, intrigue you and make you laugh!
